What a clean costs
The price you see on a service is the price of the clean. Two fees are added on top, both shown before you confirm, and you are not charged until the clean is done.
The three parts
Section titled “The three parts”| Line | What it is | How it is worked out |
|---|---|---|
| The clean | The service itself | The level and size you picked |
| Service fee | What SpotlessDoc charges for matching, support and cover | 10% of the clean |
| Card processing | What the card networks charge | 2.9% of the first two lines, plus 30¢ |
Processing is calculated on the clean plus the service fee, because that is the amount actually charged to the card.
A worked example
Section titled “A worked example”A $99 Standard Clean:
| Standard Clean | $99.00 |
| Service fee (10%) | $9.90 |
| Card processing (2.9% + 30¢) | $3.46 |
| Total | $112.36 |
Every one of those lines is itemised on the booking screen before you confirm. If a total ever appears without its breakdown, that is a bug worth reporting.
When you are charged
Section titled “When you are charged”When the clean is marked complete — not when you book, and not when the cleaner arrives. Booking reserves the slot and authorises nothing.
That means a clean that does not happen is not charged for, and you are never out of pocket while waiting for one.
Spotless Club
Section titled “Spotless Club”$14.99 a month. It buys:
- 10% off every booking, applied automatically at checkout — no code
- Priority matching with top-rated cleaners
- Access to members-only booking windows, including early Saturday slots
- One free re-clean a month if a clean is rated below 4 stars, requested within 48 hours
If something is wrong with a clean
Section titled “If something is wrong with a clean”Rate it honestly and say what was wrong. A rating below 4 stars is what opens a re-clean, and for Club members the first one each month is free.
Raise it promptly. There is a 24-hour window after a clean is marked complete before the cleaner’s earnings are released, and a problem reported inside it is settled against money that has not moved yet — which is faster and simpler for everybody than recovering it afterwards.
